WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump endorsed Utah GOP candidate Trent Staggs in a social media video but he also slammed Mitt Romney who is not even in the race.

According to NPR, The 77-year-old politician decided to drop out last year saying, “While I'm not running for reelection, I'm not retiring from the fight.” “It’s time for a new generation of leaders. They're the ones that need to make the decisions that will shape the world they will be living in,” he said at the time.

Donald Trump puts Mitt Romney on blast

Trump said in a video posted on his Truth Social account, “It's my great honor to fully endorse Trent Staggs. He's a fantastic person running for the seat of one of the worse Senators in the history of the Republican Party, Mitt Romney.”

“You don't get much worse. Some people may not like me saying that, but that's the way I feel. You don't get much worse,” he asserted, as reported by MeidasTouch News.

Mitt Romney voices his dislike for Donald Trump

Romney and Trump did not like each other despite being Republicans. When Romney attended a GOP presumptive presidential candidate’s closed-door meeting with Republican leaders but he clarified, “I didn't go there to support former President Trump.”

“I went there to listen to what he was planning on doing if he became president. With President Trump, it’s a matter of personal character,” he said as reported by Fox News.

“I draw a line and say when someone has been actually found to have been sexually assaulted, that’s something I just won’t cross over in the person I wouldn't want to have as president of the United States,” Romney added.

Meanwhile, social media users slammed Trump after his pointed remark about Romney.

An X user tweeted, “I hope everyone sees thru this by now-he ALWAYS talks sht about people who speak against his crazy. He’s been a name caller since before his 1st campaign. Someone should make a collage of all of the names he’s called his adversaries & groups of people he chooses to profile.”



 

Another X user wrote, “Coming from one of the absolute worst presidents in history, that might actually be high praise. Lol.”



 

“Typical. Any Republican standing against Trump for decency is a mortal enemy. Just like John McCain,” a user remarked.



 

Another one stated, “Of course he does. His cult will believe it but, moderate Republicans, democrats, and independents won't buy the feces he's lobbing.”



 

One user mocked, “If by ‘worst’ he means ‘not a cult member’ he is totally correct.
