WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump was given an award as he opened an event at the White House on Wednesday, February 11. He received a trophy called the “Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal.” This adds another award to his collection as he signed an executive order related to power generation.

This is not the first time he has been honored recently. At a ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington, he was also presented with a prize by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Trump ordered the Defense Department to buy electricity from coal plants. It is his latest move to support an industry that has struggled to compete with cheaper energy sources. He signed the executive order at a White House event attended by Peabody Energy CEO James Grech.

It featured a bronze statue of a coal miner on top and was engraved with “Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal,” while more than a dozen coal executives and miners in hard hats, members of the Washington Coal Club.

Grech said, "We saw the impact of your wise policy in real time during a recent winter storm, as temperatures plunged and demand surged. The coal plants you directed to keep open provided the stability and resilience that the grid needed."

During Trump's Oval Office appearance, he said, “I'm thrilled to welcome to the White House the men and women who light our cities, and you know, you do things that people don't even understand, so much, you do so much. You heat our homes, fuel our factories and turn natural resources into American riches and dreams. Our amazing coal miners.”

He also declared that he ended “I ended the war on coal.” The order tells the Pentagon to arrange long-term power purchase deals with coal plants that supply military bases.

Trump and his trophies

This isn’t the first time Trump has received an award. In early December, he accepted the newly created “FIFA Peace Prize” during the 2026 World Cup draw. Photos showed the president being handed the prize by FIFA President Gianni Infantino at a glamorous ceremony at the Kennedy Center.

According to the football association, the peace prize is meant to “reward individuals who have taken exceptional and extraordinary actions for peace and by doing so have united people across the world.” FIFA also said Trump has “championed the unifying power of football on the world stage.”
