NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Donald Trump's campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt defended the GOP nominee's New York rally on Sunday, October 27, after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's racist joke and claimed that "the crowd didn't mind."

During the Sunday rally, Hinchcliffe passed a racist joke at Trump's Madison Square Garden event and called Puerto Rico "a floating island of garbage," per Raw Story.

During a Monday, October 28 interview on Fox News, host Steve Doocy said, "The mainstream media has picked up on the comic's comments, which were offensive, have been denounced by the campaign and everybody else. What went on with that?"

Leavitt said, "Look, it was a comedian who made a joke in poor taste. I think it is sad that the media will pick up on one joke that was made by a comedian rather than the truths that were shared by the phenomenal list of speakers that we had."

She continued, "And the crowd, they didn't mind, right? Again, it was a diverse group of people. The joke fell flat. But the crowd was there because they know who President Trump is and they know he wants to be a president for all Americans."

Tony Hinchcliffe defended his jokes on Puerto Rico at Donald Trump’s New York City rally after facing backlash from people across the political aisle, per The Hill.

The comedian responded to a clip on X of Tim Walz and Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticizing him, which Hinchcliffe delivered on Sunday at MSG ahead of Trump’s speech.

Hinchcliffe took to X and wrote, "These people have no sense of humor. Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his ‘busy schedule’ to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist."

He continued, "I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone…watch the whole set. I’m a comedian Tim…might be time to change your tampon."
