WASHINGTON, DC: United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain reinstated his support for President Joe Biden as he stated he has a “history of serving others,” and added, that former President Donald Trump has a history of “serving himself.”

UAW, which has a history of always supporting the Democratic candidates, was late this year in their endorsement of the incumbent Democratic candidate.

Appearing on CBS News’s ‘Face the Nation’ on Sunday, January 28, Fain voiced his support for Biden, as he said, “When you look at these two candidates, you know, Joe Biden has a history of serving others, and serving the working class, and fighting for the working class, standing with the working class,”

While praising Biden wholeheartedly, he also slammed the Republican former President and business mogul, saying, “Donald Trump has a history of serving himself and standing for the billionaire class. And that’s contrary to everything that working-class people stand for,” per The Hill.

Fain explained, “When you look…at the issues during our contract campaign —retirement security, better wages, health care, wanting our time back, wanting our lives back — that’s what matters.”

“That’s why 75 per cent of the American public stood with the UAW in our fight. And I believe that’s why a huge majority of our members and working-class people will side with President Joe Biden in the upcoming election,” continued Fain.

Talking about the statistics of the UAW members who supported Trump in the 2016 election, Fain propounded that the number will be less in this election.

Fain stated, “And I believe the overwhelming majority of UAW members and working-class people when the facts and the truth are put in front of them, will support Joe Biden for president.”

During his interview, Fain also referred to Biden’s support for the union during their recent strike against the Big Three automakers.

He gushed, “President Biden has always bet on the American worker and stood with the American worker, and he proved that during this presidency.”

He continued to praise Biden’s move to join the striking workers on the picket line in Michigan, and said, “He stood up with us, for the first time in US history, we had a sitting president join striking workers on the picket line.”.

Fain even opined that if Biden continues to do what he is doing, he can whiz past the winning number in Michigan - a state known for its prolific automobile industry. Fain added, “I think he has to keep doing what he’s been doing all along.”

Fain even addressed the issue with the Biden government’s push towards electric vehicles, saying, “Look, our- our union has a history going back- I- I saw a statement 54 years ago in 1970, UAW President Leonard Woodcock was talking about, we needed to get away from the internal combustible engine because it’s poisoning the environment.”

He continued, “Look, the UAW has always been at the forefront of environmental issues, and of working-class issues.”

Referring to UAW’s new contract, Fain said, “The biggest thing to us is, no matter which way we go on this, we’re gonna have security for our members and for the working class people.”

“So we’re not afraid of where we’re headed, no matter where this industry goes. Naturally, there’s work that has to be done with the infrastructure and things like that.”

Fain, who is sure of Biden’s support toward the UAW, gushed, “But no matter where this heads, I know one presidential candidate will be behind us. And that’s Joe Biden. And I know another one that could care less about it. And that’s Donald Trump.”

One of the vocal social media users deemed Fain's speech as "Nonsense."

Another person on social media said, "I saw him say that the vast majority of his members were voting for Trump because they will vote for their paychecks.”

Someone else defended Trump, saying, "Nobody cares what this guy says. The simple FACT is that all the actual WORKERS will be voting TRUMP."

Another fan quipped, "Biden and working class. That’s a good one."

"Yeah but then admitted a large portion of his members are voting for Trump," remarked another user.

"Half the line workers getting pink slips in the next week," said someone else.

Another user slammed, "The UAW active membership is down nearly 50 per cent and will continue its fall under this kind of leadership."

"It’s funny because Trumps out there saying look at me I’m qualified I’m ready. Biden got everyone else trying to convince you he’s capable except Biden," said someone else.

"Exactly what circus did you all come from?" asked another user.
