Trump warns GOP midterm loss could make him ‘much more angry’ over Iran: ‘Either way they lose’
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Friday, September 11, warned that a Republican Party loss in the upcoming 2026 November midterm elections could affect how he would further handle the war with Iran.
During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump was asked why the conflict would end after the election if Republicans lose. Trump said the loss could make him “much more angry” and that he would “just take care of business.”

Trump has repeatedly said this week that the US-Iran war will end after the midterm elections, with his latest remarks coming Friday during his interview with Ingraham.
The host challenged Trump on his prediction, raising the possibility that the war would still end after the midterms if Republicans were to lose the upcoming elections.

Trump replied that the loss could instead prompt him to take a much more aggressive approach toward Iran.
“Well, I think a lot of people think if we lose, then I'll be much more angry and I'll just take care of business. You know, it's another way of doing it. Either way they lose,” Trump said.
Trump had already said two days earlier, before departing for the first-ever Republican National Convention on Wednesday, September 9, that the war would end after the election. The president said the administration was no longer actively seeking an agreement with Tehran but left open the possibility of negotiations.

Trump links Iran war to 9/11 anniversary
Earlier in the day, Trump also connected the Iran conflict to the broader US response to extremism during his address marking the 25th anniversary of the tragic September 11 attacks.
The president honored the 2,977 people killed in the attacks and the first responders, law enforcement officers and military personnel who served in the years that followed.

“With the events of that morning, 2,977 beautiful souls were ripped from our world… today we renew the sacred oath that we first swore in their names a quarter of a century ago. We will never, ever forget,” Trump said.
Trump tied that remembrance to his administration’s current military campaign, saying the United States must continue fighting to prevent threats against the country.
“That's why we fight today. We don't have a choice. There can only be victory. We fight hard. We fight to win,” Trump said.
Trump then directly connected the current Iran conflict to his stated goal of preventing Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon.
“And we salute the service members working right now to ensure the world's number one sponsor of extremism, the Islamic Republic of Iran, will never ever have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.
