PARIS, FRANCE: You’d think the reopening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral—after years of painstaking restoration—would take center stage in the news cycle, but Donald Trump somehow managed to steal the spotlight even in this case. This time by rekindling one of his critics' favorite debates: How tall is he really?

The drama unfolded on Saturday, December 7, when the president-elect joined world leaders in Paris to celebrate the iconic Notre Dame’s grand reopening, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Among the guests was Prince William, the ever-dignified royal who happens to share a reported height of 6 feet, 3 inches with Trump. Or so we thought.

How tall are Donald Trump and Prince William?

When photos surfaced of Donald Trump and Prince William standing near each other, the internet couldn’t help but notice something: Trump looked not as tall as William.

The British press has consistently reported Prince William’s height as 6 feet 3 inches since 2009 at least. This makes him taller than both his parents.

On the other hand, Trump's height has always been questioned by his critics. Trump was listed at 6 feet 3 inches tall in official inmate measurements taken when he was booked at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, last year. Even potus.com lists him as 6 feet 3 inches.

But he was listed at 6 feet, 2 inches during his April 2023 arrest in New York on charges of falsifying business records.

Donald Trump and Prince William's photos spark height speculation

Seeing the photos from Donald Trump and Prince William's recent meeting in Paris, Trump detractors on social media wasted no time in pointing out the difference in their heights.

"Donald Trump claims to be 6’3.” Prince William is 6’3.” Donald is so fake that he even lies about his height. Such a pathetic man," one posted on X.

"Fun fact — Prince William is 6'3" and the clown telling anyone who will listen he’s 6'3" — even wearing the lifts in his shoes — is significantly shorter. This may come as a shock, but Trump is lying," another alleged.

"[I had] no idea that prince william is 6’8” tall," read a comment.

"He lies about inconsequential matters as easily as the important ones. I think he gets a sick thrill believing he’s bamboozling folks. Or maybe some satisfaction knowing he won’t be called out most times," another offered.

Is there another explanation?

That said, many others on social media offered more nuanced explanations. After all, Father Time isn’t exactly known for sparing anyone’s spine.

"He’s an old man. People lose a meaningful amount of height by the time they’re roughly 80z You can compare his height between someone like Macron 8 years ago and see he has shrunk meaningfully. In 2017 he was clearly taller than Obama who is 6’1. Maybe not anymore," one explained.

"I've seen Trump up close at a rally. Looked like he was in the vicinity of 6'1". Probably was 6"3"in his younger years. You do know that people lose height as the age, correct?" another wrote.

"I know plenty of old timers who state their height when they were 30, despite losing a few inches courtesy of father time. My Grandpa always said he was 6'1", despite being closer to 5'10" in his 70s," someone else noted.

"I was once 6'3". Now I'm only 6'2" and haven't yet reached age 60. However, I've never bothered to change the vital statistic listing my height as 6'3" on my state issued DL. Peoples spines tend to compress as we age. It always fascinates me to witness the level of obsession about all things Trump, accompanied by the lack of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking characteristic of folks afflicted with TDS," another fumed.

Interestingly, Trump seemed even shorter than both Elon Musk, who is reportedly 6'2", and Kid Rock, who is 6 feet tall, when they were spotted together recently. However, Trump's son Barron towers over them at 6'9" — a height the president-elect proudly credits to his genetics.
