Vance mocks Talarico's ‘web browser history’ in scorched-earth Texas Senate attack

DALLAS, TEXAS: Vice President JD Vance lashed out Thursday night at Democratic Senate hopeful James Talarico in the very state where he is running for office, speaking at the Republican National Committee's midterm convention in Dallas.

The Texas state legislator faces off against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in a race to succeed retiring GOP Sen. John Cornyn this November.

Vance mocks Talarico's comments on gender

“But this Talarico guy, he will not shut up about how there are six genders,” Vance told the crowd.

“He will not shut up about how, quote, ‘God is non-binary.’ I don’t know what the hell that even means, my friends.”

“He won’t shut up about having traditional Christian values makes you a bigot, and I gotta say, a guy that age who is so obsessed and focused on transgender children, I don’t know about you, but I never want to see that guy’s web browser history,” Vance said.

“It’s not a good place. We’d rather be here.”

Republicans have repeatedly condemned the Democratic nominee’s criticism of Christian nationalism and his decision as a state legislator to oppose a ban on transgender student athletes competing in girls’ sports. 

Talarico told Fox News on Wednesday that he supports banning transgender athletes from women's and girls' sports "if it endangers safety or fairness," adding, "Every sport has to be safe and fair."

Vance urges Republicans to send a message in midterms

Vance urged GOP voters to turn out to vote in the midterm elections, in which the Republican Party is fighting to maintain its majority in both chambers of Congress.

“I’m asking you, my fellow Republicans, to remember that this November is so much more than red team versus blue team. It’s so much more than having good politicians in Washington,” he said.

“It’s about sending a message to the Democratic Party that if you send your crazies, we’re going to send you packing,” Vance continued.

“It’s about fighting for our fellow citizens, for their dreams and for the inheritance of a great nation that all of us are going to leave behind.”

The comments come as Talarico currently leads Paxton by 4 points in a recent Texas poll, a significant sign in a state that has traditionally favored Republicans in statewide races.

Paxton has been facing a string of legal and personal troubles throughout his campaign, including securities fraud charges, a past impeachment by the Texas House and an ongoing, high-profile divorce.

Vance's appearance in Dallas is the result of the increased national attention on the race as Republicans work to shore up support for Paxton's candidacy ahead of November.
