House Speaker Mike Johnson says Republicans are preparing for a first-of-its-kind midterm convention in Dallas, after President Donald Trump personally pushed the idea and told him to “make it a thing.” Johnson said Trump called him before Thanksgiving and insisted the GOP needed a midterm convention, even though Johnson initially replied that such a thing did not exist.
