'America Does Not Want to Fight This War for Israel': Veteran's Protest Ends With Broken Arm

A man was violently dragged out of a Capitol Hill hearing on Wednesday, March 4, by police and a Republican Senator after interrupting the proceedings to protest the war in Iran. Senator Tim Sheehy of Montana said he assisted officers in physically ejecting “an unhinged protester” from the Armed Services hearing. The protester, Brian McGinnis, describes himself as a Marine veteran and is running as a Green Party candidate in North Carolina’s Senate race. “Israel is the reason for this war, America does not want to fight this war for Israel,” he is heard shouting at the beginning of the clip, with members of Capitol Police swiftly intervening to eject him from the room. “America does not want to send its sons and daughters to war for Israel.” McGinnis is then seen in a struggle with officers near the doorway with Sheehy stepping in. While authorities attempted to pull McGinnis out of the room, his left hand became stuck between the door and the frame. A loud crack can be heard as McGinnis’ arm appears to break. This footage, recorded by Josephine Guilbeau, also shows McGinnis telling the officers who arrested him that his left arm is broken. Bystanders are heard sharing their concern at the protester’s arm injury, with activist group Code Pink also confirming the break.
