Every month, Rama Duwaji — the soft-spoken artist and wife of New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani -makes a list of things that “make me want to make art.” On October 9, while Mamdani was busy campaigning, her inspirations included the intricate relief work on Grand Central Terminal’s façade and the elegant patterns of a Jacquard loom -an 1805 weaving machine that revolutionized textile design.
