'Batman' Scolds City Council for Inaction on ICE Concerns.
A man dressed as Batman scolded authorities in Santa Clara, California, at a city council meeting on January 27 for their inaction in relation to the likely deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the upcoming Super Bowl. A livestream of the meeting between the Santa Clara City Council, Santa Clara Stadium Authority, and other officials, shows the moment the costumed man made his dramatic entrance, asking, “What the f*** are we doing here?” The man outlined his concerns around ICE agents’ possible presence in Santa Clara, given the two people killed by federal agents in Minneapolis in January. He argued that the city council should have taken action to prevent “hundreds of masked men” coming to Santa Clara, and asked that no city resources be provided to the agency. In response to concerns about immigration enforcement, Santa Clara Police Chief Cory Morgan said the department would not “confirm, deny, or speculate about” the actions of federal agencies, local news reported.
