BC Students Leave Building With Hands Raised in Wake of Deadly School Shooting

Police said at least 10 people, including the suspect, were killed in shootings at a school and a home in British Columbia on February 10. Footage here, recorded Jordon Kosik and released by the Western Standard, shows students and staff leaving the school with their hands raised. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said they responded to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School at approximately 1:20 pm, following reports of an active shooter. Six victims were found dead inside the school, police reported, along with multiple people injured, including two who were airlifted to hospital with serious or life‑threatening injuries. A third wounded person died while being transported to hospital. Approximately 25 other people were treated for non‑life‑threatening injuries. An individual believed to be the shooter was found dead at the school, from what police said appeared to be a self‑inflicted injury. Two more victims were found deceased in a residential location “believed to be connected to the incident,” the RCMP said. In a press conference, Supt Ken Floyd, who acts as the North District Commander for the BC RCMP, said information about the shooter and victims, including their age, identity, and possible connection, was not being released as police continued to investigate.
