California Doctor Sentenced in Matthew Perry Overdose Case
A California doctor has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for supplying the ketamine that contributed to actor Matthew Perry’s fatal overdose. Dr. Salvador Plasencia is the first of five defendants to be sentenced in the case. Prosecutors say he repeatedly sold ketamine to Perry despite knowing his addiction struggles even calling the actor a “moron” in texts. Perry’s family urged the judge to impose a tough sentence, saying the doctor “should have protected” him. Plasencia apologized in court, saying, “There is no excuse. I’m so sorry.” He also surrendered his medical license and was taken into custody immediately.
