Capitol Hill Witnesses Say ICE and Border Patrol Left Them Traumatized and Disabled
In a powerful Capitol Hill forum, witnesses Aliya Rahman and Marimar Martinez described traumatic run-ins with ICE and Border Patrol during immigration operations — and how they say those moments left them injured, disabled, and fighting a system that wouldn’t admit what happened. Rahman says she was simply trying to get to her 39th traumatic brain injury appointment when ICE vehicles created a chaotic traffic jam with no clear detour. After an agent allegedly shouted “Move! I will break your effing window!”, she rolled down her window — and moments later, glass exploded across her face. She recalls being dragged through the street while yelling that she was disabled, and says she was never read her rights or charged with a crime.
