CCTV Shows Moment of Plane-Truck Collision at LaGuardia Airport
A surveillance camera captured the moment an Air Canada Express regional jet arriving from Montreal collided with a firetruck at LaGuardia Airport in New York City on Sunday night, March 22. The flight was operated by Air Canada Express carrier Jazz Aviation and a preliminary passenger list indicated that it was carrying “approximately 72 passengers and four crew members,” according to a statement from Air Canada. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the aircraft’s pilot and co-pilot were killed in the crash, the airline said. At least 41 passengers and crew members were injured, according to local news reports. Airport officials said the firetruck crew were responding to a separate incident at the time of the collision. This footage was captured by a camera positioned on the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at the airport, but was not released through official channels. Storyful has verified the footage but cannot distribute a downloadable version, and presents the video here for your information (FYI) only.
