Chaos Erupts in Mexico After Army Kills Jalisco New Generation Cartel Leader

Violence erupted across parts of western Mexico after the army killed Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Authorities say cartel members set vehicles ablaze and launched coordinated disruptions in response to the operation. In the resort city of Puerto Vallarta, tourists were urged to remain indoors as unrest spread. Reports also indicated security incidents near the local airport. The killing of the powerful drug boss marks a major blow to one of Mexico’s most violent criminal organizations but triggered immediate retaliation across the region.
