DOJ Seeks Judge Approval to Release Epstein–Maxwell Grand Jury Records
The Justice Department is asking two federal judges in New York to authorize the release of grand jury transcripts and exhibits from the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell cases. The request comes under a new law, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which requires the DOJ to make the files public within 30 days. Prosecutors say they’ll redact victim information and anything tied to ongoing investigations. Judges previously denied a similar request, criticizing the DOJ for not showing a clear legal basis. Now, with a federal deadline approaching, the DOJ is pushing for an expedited ruling.
