Dozens Injured in Arad After Iranian Missile Strike Causes Widespread Destruction

An Iranian missile strike on the southern Israeli city of Arad injured over 50 people and caused widespread destruction on Saturday evening, March 21, Magen David Adom said in a statement. Footage showed huge damage to an apartment complex in the western part of the city. Large craters were seen in the square, with smouldering rubble and a number of flames seen at the site. The strike was the second major strike on the south of the country after the city of Dimona was also targeted, after Israeli air defenses failed to intercept at least two ballistic missiles. Over 100 people were injured in total across the two cities and in the north of the country, 11 of them seriously, as Iran and Hezbollah attacked Israel on Saturday night, the Jerusalem Post reported. IDF sources confirmed to the Jerusalem Post that it failed to intercept missiles in both Dimona and Arad, adding that the military was investigating the incidents. The sources added that the missiles were of the kind that Israel has intercepted in the past. The International Atomic Energy Agency said it was aware of reports that a projectile had struck the city of Dimona, but had received no indication of damage to the Negev nuclear research center there.
