They are also blaming Genasys, the tech company behind the emergency alert system, for not warning people in time. The victim’s sister has now filed a lawsuit, arguing that the software’s zoning system left parts of west Altadena without the alerts they needed to escape. She and other families say these failures—both in equipment and communication—cost lives and caused massive destruction.
