Fire Devastates Historic Courthouse in Georgia's Floyd County
Flames ripped through a historic courthouse in Rome, Georgia, on Monday, March 23, sending plumes of smoke into the sky.
Floyd County, GA - Government released this footage showing the blaze in the structure’s clock tower before part of the building collapses.
In a Facebook post, Floyd County said the building, erected in 1892, was evacuated after a fire was discovered around 2:20 pm. All employees were safely evacuated.
“The courthouse was undergoing renovations at the time of the fire. At this time, the cause remains unknown and is under investigation,” the county said.
