Gunfire Erupts as Youths Brawl in Daytona Beach

A multi-person brawl ended in gunshots in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Saturday, March 14. Video filmed by local resident Melly Hatchet shows the fight unfold at the intersection of S Atlantic Avenue and Main Street on Saturday night. Three gunshots can be heard as the crowd scatters. A police vehicle arrived on the scene moments later. Hatchet told Storyful she tried to get a call out but couldn’t get a signal due to the volume of people in the area for spring break. “The phone systems were jammed up. Nobody was getting through on calls, so I started to video so that a record of faces would be available for identification if needed. Daytona Beach police have contacted me for the video,” Hatchet said. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 19-year-old woman from Atlanta, Georgia, was shot and injured on S Atlantic Avenue on Saturday at 11:15 pm.
