House Dem Vets Challenge Trump on Venezuela: War Powers Vote or ‘Endless Wars’?

Democratic military veterans in Congress are calling Trump out over war powers – and forcing Republicans to decide how far they’ll go to defend constitutional checks while backing the president’s hard line on Venezuela and Iran. Rep. Jason Crow, a former Army Ranger, says he’s seen this movie before: “When elites in Washington, D.C. bang the war drums and talk tough, they’re not talking about sending their kids into battle. They’re talking about people like me… working-class folks from towns around this country.” Crow says the American appetite for “endless wars and endless conflict… for trillions of dollars just to pad the pockets of big oil and large executives” has to end. He wants Congress back where the Constitution puts it – deciding when the country goes to war. Rep. Max Rose says both parties claim to oppose “forever wars”, but that unity disappears the moment Donald Trump says otherwise: “We thought we were at a moment of unity… that we’re not going to engage in unconstitutional forever wars ever again. But it appears when Donald Trump says otherwise, everything shifts. Well, that’s got to stop.”
