Iran Names Khamenei’s Son as Supreme Leader, Days After Trump Warning
Iran has now installed Ali Khamenei’s son as the new Supreme Leader, right after Donald Trump warned that he was an “unacceptable” choice. Iranian state media and officials have announced that Mojtaba Khamenei, second son of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has been selected as Iran’s new Supreme Leader by the country’s powerful Assembly of Experts. The decision comes in the middle of a war that has seen joint US–Israeli strikes kill Ali Khamenei and decimate parts of Iran’s military and political leadership.
