‘You Wanted To Cap Him At 2 Years’: Hearing Explodes Over Dismissed Predator Case
A congressional hearing erupted after Rep. Brad Knott confronted Fairfax prosecutor Steve Descano over a dismissed child predator case.
Knott accused Descano of pursuing a plea deal that would have capped the suspect’s sentence at two years before a judge rejected it. The exchange escalated further after Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares stated the defendant “walks free.”
Descano defended himself during the hearing, saying he also has a daughter and cares about the safety of his community. But Knott continued pressing him over the dismissal, calling the handling of the case “shameful.”
The confrontation is now reigniting debate around prosecutorial discretion, plea deals, and crime policy in America.
