Trump, WHO And Spain Move To Calm Hantavirus Fears After Cruise Ship Outbreak
The World Health Organization says the current Hantavirus outbreak linked to a cruise ship is “not the start of a COVID pandemic,” but officials across multiple countries are still taking major precautions.
President Trump was questioned twice in two days about the situation as WHO officials confirmed cases and deaths connected to the outbreak. Meanwhile, Spain announced strict isolation measures for passengers arriving from the ship, saying travelers would be transported through a completely cordoned-off area under guard.
At the same time, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth used the moment to criticize the Biden administration’s COVID-era military vaccine policies, calling them unfair and unlawful while announcing reinstatement efforts for discharged service members.
WHO continues to say the overall public health risk remains low, but the international response is now drawing major attention online as people compare the situation to the early days of COVID.
