Dozens of Warnings Before Sh*ts Fired: NYPD Releases Grand Central Bodycam Footage

03 May 2026
Newly released bodycam footage from the New York Police Department shows the intense moments leading up to a fatal officer-involved sh**ting at the 42nd Street–Grand Central subway station. Detectives Ryan Giuffre and Anthony Manetta confronted 44-year-old Anthony Griffin, who had just randomly st*bbed three people, including elderly victims, causing serious injuries. The footage captures officers repeatedly ordering Griffin to drop the kn*fe, urging him to comply while attempting to de-escalate the situation. At one point, officers can be heard saying, “Nobody wants to sh**t you… we’re going to get you help.” Despite multiple commands—reportedly given more than 20 times—Griffin continued moving toward officers with the weap*n raised. During the encounter, he made alarming statements, including asking officers to sh**t him. As the threat escalated and Griffin advanced, Detective Giuffre fired two sh*ts. Griffin was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced de*d. Police officials stated that officers were responding to an active threat involving multiple victims, and acted to stop further harm on one of the busiest transit platforms in the city. The incident has renewed focus on split-second decisions made by law enforcement in high-risk situations—and the role of bodycam footage in showing exactly what officers faced.
