'Disturbing' Video Shows NYPD Officers Beating Man Wrongly Identified as Suspect Two New York police officers beat a man in a Brooklyn liquor store after mistaking him for a suspect in a drug deal, footage described as “disturbing” shows. Abelee Moran was in Bk Wine Depot on Hoyt Street on Tuesday, April 14, when the violent arrest took place. Moran recorded footage showing two officers throwing a man, identified by CBS News as Timothy L Brown, against a wall and then onto the ground, causing him to crash into a display of wine bottles as they continued to hit him. The officers are then seen dragging Brown by his legs and arms and shouting at him to “roll over”. Brown can be seen bleeding from one leg while an officer stands on the other. The NYPD said the officers were undercover detectives who wrongly identified Brown as a suspect in a narcotics purchase, based on a description. After being escorted out of the store in handcuffs, Brown was charged with resisting arrest and released. The charge has since been dropped. In a statement, NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch called the video “deeply disturbing” and said the officers seen in the footage have been “modified”, with their guns and shields removed. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the footage was “extremely disturbing and unacceptable”, and said the NYPD was conducting an investigation. #NYPD #TimothyBrown #Brooklyn #NYCNews #PoliceAccountability #Justice #PoliceReform #EricGonzalez #MayorMamdani #BreakingNews #CommunityOutrage
