NYC Mayor Mamdani Calls ICE ‘Cruel’ After Brooklyn Clash, Denies NYPD Role NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani is defending the NYPD after the Brooklyn hospital ICE clash while sharply condemning ICE itself. Mamdani said NYPD officers were not sent to participate in or facilitate an ICE operation. According to him, police responded to 911 calls about a protest outside the hospital, not to assist federal immigration enforcement.
