Trump’s “I Don’t Think About Americans” Remark Sparks Political Firestorm
President Trump’s “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation” remark has become the latest flashpoint in the Iran debate.
The comment came as Trump was asked whether Americans’ financial struggles were motivating him to make a deal with Iran. His answer was blunt: “Not even a little bit.”
Then he explained why.
“The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran — they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing: We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.”
Democrats immediately went after him. Hakeem Jeffries called it an extraordinary admission and accused Trump and Republicans of not caring about Americans’ personal finances.
Vance said preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon is one of the most important things the administration can do to protect Americans long term.
Mike Johnson also backed Trump. He said he talks to the president constantly and that Trump is focused on Americans’ financial situation, especially through the impact of the Iran crisis on oil, gas prices, and the Strait of Hormuz.
