The Trump administration is abandoning a controversial $1.8 billion compensation fund after weeks of legal scrutiny, Democratic outrage, and unease inside the Republican Party. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told Congress that the Justice Department is “not moving forward with the fund, period.” The fund was tied to a settlement of President Donald Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS over the handling and disclosure of his tax records.
