Truck Flies Off Overpass in Dramatic Freeway Crash

Dramatic dashcam footage captured the moment a truck plunged off an overpass in Rialto, California, crashing onto the 210 Freeway on December 5. Footage recorded by Efrain Perez’s dashcam shows a Ford pickup truck soaring off the elevated roadway and landing in freeway traffic below. The truck driver, identified as 36-year-old Edgar Gonzalez, was the only person in the truck and survived the crash, the California Highway Patrol told CBS LA. As Mr Gonzalez was in the intersection, he veered to the right across the number two lane and drove onto the northeast corner. Mr Gonzalez continued driving and collided with a chain-link fence,” the Rialto Police Department said. The truck landed in the eastbound HOV lane, where it was broadsided by a white GMC Acadia driven by 51-year-old Jeffery Elhami. This caused the GMC to “overturn and the Ford to enter the westbound lanes,” police added. They were both transported to a hospital and survived the crash.
