Tulsi Gabbard: “U.S. and Israel Have Different Objectives in Iran War.”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told lawmakers that the United States and Israel are pursuing different objectives in the ongoing Iran conflict, highlighting a growing divergence between the two allies. Responding to questions from Rep. Joaquin Castro, Gabbard stated that “the objectives that have been laid out by the president are different from the objectives that have been laid out by the Israeli government.” She explained that Israel appears focused on “disabling the Iranian leadership,” including targeting top figures, while President Donald Trump’s stated goals center on destroying Iran’s ballistic missile and production capabilities, as well as its mine-laying operations. The exchange came amid escalating tensions following strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure and rising global economic concerns. Lawmakers also pressed Gabbard on whether Israel supports Trump’s push for a potential deal with Iran, but she said she was unaware of Israel’s position. She further noted the U.S. is not involved in the “operational element” of Israel’s military actions.
