Gypsy-Rose Blanchard became emotional after her 19-month-old daughter, Aurora, called her “Mommy” for the first time. In an Instagram montage, Gypsy-Rose showed months of attempts to teach Aurora the word. The video begins with Aurora saying “Dada” at four months, follows another unsuccessful attempt at 18 months and ends with her finally saying “Mommy.” Gypsy-Rose explained that the word had carried a complicated and painful meaning because of her history with her own mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Now, she says motherhood is helping her redefine it around love, safety, comfort and home. “To everyone else, it may just be a new word. To me, it felt like healing,” she wrote.
