MIDDLETOWN, OHIO: A viral tweet appears to have lifted the curtain on what some believe was Ohio Senator JD Vance’s secret weapon during the vice presidential debate: his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance.

Following a rather unusual debate between Vance and Tim Walz just weeks ahead of the upcoming presidential election, one X post had fans attributing Vance’s debate prowess to his sharp-witted Indian-American wife.

Dr Parik Patel — who lists his degrees as BA, CFA, and ACCA — has made somewhat of a reputation on X (formerly Twitter) for his humorous financial takes and witty commentary.

Patel posted on Wednesday, October 2: “The reason JD Vance is so good in debates is because he has to argue with his Indian lawyer wife every day.”

Fans and followers quickly chimed in to offer their own hilarious takes. Many praised Usha Vance as the “real MVP” behind her husband’s solid debate performance.

"Indian wife & a Harvard-educated lawyer. Best thing is to simply plead guilty & move on," one responded to Patel.

"Last night's debate for JD was probably a walk in the park compared to honey do you have a minute to talk with the wife," another quipped.

Usha Vance is a highly successful lawyer who grew up in San Diego and met JD Vance while they were both attending Yale Law School. They tied the knot in 2014 and now share three children: Ewan, age 6; Vivek, age 4; and Mirabel, age 2.

In contrast to previous debates, which were riddled with personal attacks, the Vance vs Walz showdown was lauded for focusing more on substance. CBS News reported a neck-and-neck result, with 42% of viewers thinking Vance won, while 41% sided with Walz.

Topics ranged from abortion to foreign policy, with each candidate tackling issues with their own spin. On abortion, Walz stuck to his record as Minnesota’s governor, while Vance walked a fine line and tried to align himself with Donald Trump’s stance on the issue.

Foreign policy was another point of tension. When asked about supporting an Israeli attack on Iran, neither candidate gave a straight answer — though they both acknowledged the importance of Israel defending itself. On immigration, both agreed that illegal crossovers were a problem but pointed fingers at opposing presidential nominees for the issue.
