LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of 'Real Time with Bill Maher,' the outspoken host moved his attention to the Oscars, highlighting how it reflects society while humorously critiquing the film industry's evolving landscape.

Maher kicked off his monologue by taking a dig at the 2024 Golden Globes over the newly introduced category, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award, calling it "basically a picture people liked." He also dubbed the organizers "self-congratulating, virtue-signaling bores."

Bill Maher comes up with hilarious new Oscars categories

One of the focal points of Maher's monologue was his take on the Academy introducing new Oscar categories.

He started with "Best Editing of A Film That's Still an Hour Too Long," poking fun at the industry's tendency to produce lengthy movies, and moved on to "Achievement in Ethnic Prosthetics," probably hinting at something similar to the 'Maestro' fiasco of Bradley Cooper facing backlash for donning a prosthetic nose.

Subsequently, Maher highlighted the industry's response to social media controversies by creating a category for "Best Achievement in Replacing an Actor Who Tweeted Something Offensive."

Other categories he mentioned included "Best Use of a Freeze Frame Followed by the Words 'You're Probably Wondering How I Got Here'."

He also playfully introduced the "Michael Bay 'Coolest Fireball' Award," possibly hinting at the director's penchant for explosive scenes, as well as "The Least Annoying Picture Where the Plot is Driven by a Simple Misunderstanding," taking a jab at cliched plotlines.

The next satirical Oscars categories were "Best Song Performed by Someone Your Niece Can't Believe You've Never Heard Of" and "Best Movie that Opens with an Armadillo Scurrying Across A Highway."

Ultimately, Maher made fun of himself by introducing the category, "Best Use of a Real-life TV Talk Show Host W*****g Himself Out to Make the Movie Seem More Realistic," and followed it up by showing a clip of him playing a talk show host in films like 'Iron Man 3', 'Primary Colors', 'Delivery Man', and 'Gringo'.
