WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump called out the mainstream media for being ‘very dishonest’ while reporting his statements.

During a recent interview, Dr Phil raised the issue that media houses have been taking the former president's statements out of context. "They demonize you a lot," Dr Phil said to Trump.

He added, “They make a big deal out of the fact that you said, ‘You’re only gonna have to vote one time, you elect me you’re only gonna have to vote one time.’"

Donald Trump explains his twisted statements

In July, Donald Trump spoke at a Turning Point Action event saying, "You won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians."

He added, "You’ve got to get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again, we’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote."

"I said to the Christians, we’ve gotta win this election. If we win this election, I’ll straighten everything out in less than 4 years by a lot," Trump said.

"Then you don’t have to, it doesn’t matter. In other words, I’m saying you don’t have to vote- it doesn’t mean we’re not gonna have elections! You’re gonna have elections, but you have to vote this time, because we have to win. This is the most important election in the history of our country," he explained.

Dr Phil confirmed, "So you didn’t mean, ‘Vote me in once, because I ain’t ever leaving.' You’re meaning, ‘This is an iportant one, vote this time?’"

"Of course that’s what I meant, And I said it, and everybody knows I said it that way, and everybody agrees that I said it in that way," the Republican presidential nominee said.

Netizens share their take on Donald Trump calling out mainstream media

Internet seemed to agree with Donald Trump accusing the mainstream media of distorting his statements. A few agreed that they mispresented the former president's remarks during the campaign.

A user commented on X, "I took it as just vote this once and then you will never have to vote for me again. As in he wouldn’t be running anymore and I thought it was just a light hearted joke."

"He is correct. Trump understands the Christians usually don’t vote. They leave it in Gods hands. He has asked them to make an exception this election," another wrote.

One person expressed, "I don't know why he thinks Christians and gun owners don't vote. Christians and gun owners have FAR more reason to vote than anyone else. They have a larger moral standpoint for who they want elected."

"Of course they aren’t! They don’t want him to win so they want to make him look as bad as possible," another opined.

A user said, "Maybe a candidate that is able to communicate effectively and doesn’t need a team following him around clarifying what he really meant?"
