NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Donald Trump was ridiculed by his rival Kamala Harris' campaign team over childcare affordability.

The former president was speaking at The Economic Club of New York’s event on Thursday, September 5.

What did Donald Trump say about improving childcare affordability?

Donald Trump was questioned about his plan on the concerned subject, “What specific legislation will you commit to to make child care affordable?”

The Republican presidential nominee gave a somewhat confused response in return, "Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down — you know, I was, somebody — we had Senator Marco Rubio, and my daughter Ivanka was so impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that — because the childcare is childcare — there’s something, you have to have it in this country."

"Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including childcare, that it’s going to take care — we’re going to have, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country because I have to stay with childcare. I want to stay with childcare” he added, reported Mediaite.

Many were baffled when he used the name of Marco Rubio, and his daughter Ivanka as they questioned their competencies.

Internet pokes fun at Donald Trump's 'word salad'

Netizens joined Kamala Harris' supporters in making jokes about Donald Trump's bizarre response on childcare affordability. Many realized his answer didn't have any conclusive point, while others called him inefficient and incompetent to run the country once again.

A user said on X, "Lordy, Lordy that's some major word salad stuff right there. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣."

"This could have been the answer to a different question, namely: 'Can you speak for two minutes without sentence breaks or punctuation, go from one non-sequitur to another, and end with a sound bite?'" another joked.

One wrote, "He has no freaking business being anywhere near the White House again. In fact he never had any business being there to begin with. People voted for this completely stupid idiot 🤯."

"Trump has no policies. He's only good at rambling. The American people can see right through his eyes," a user chimed.

"Nobody knows more about the struggles with childcare than a billionaire and his billionaire daughter. 🥴 They’re not like us," another shared.

"He still doesn't know how tariffs work. His audience does," penned someone else. "His stupidity is breathtaking at a level we've never seen before in this country," jibed another.
