RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: Vem Miller, a Las Vegas resident, has been charged with possession of a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazine near a Donald Trump rally.

He claimed to be a journalist with VIP access to the event and was found in an unregistered vehicle with homemade license plates, armed with several firearms and boxes of ammunition.

Newsweek stated that local sources confirmed Miller as a registered Republican with a master's degree from UCLA. He campaigned for the Nevada state assembly in 2022 but was unsuccessful in the primary election, according to The Press-Enterprise.

Additionally, he is associated with an anti-government group that leans to the right and sought election to the Nevada state legislature in 2022.

Why was Vem Miller arrested?

Vem Miller was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine.

Miller, a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was driving a black SUV at a checkpoint outside a Trump rally in Coachella when Riverside County sheriff's deputies discovered he was illegally in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, as reported by the sheriff's office.

Authorities report that the suspect was apprehended without incident and detained at a nearby Indio facility. The arrest of Miller occurred approximately at 5 pm local time, coinciding with the scheduled start of Trump's rally.

After his arrest, Miller was released on a $5,000 bail from the detention center, local media reported. He is scheduled to make a court appearance in January.

What did sheriff's office and FBI said after Vem Miller's arrest?

The sheriff's office stated that the incident had "did not impact the safety" of Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, or those attending the rally.

Chad Bianco, the Riverside County Sheriff and a recognized Trump supporter, informed the Southern California News Group on Sunday, October 13, that the authorities had "probably stopped another assassination attempt."

What Vem Miller said after being bailed and having guns in his car?

Miller, 49, reportedly declared his support for Trump the day after his arrest. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco stated he firmly believes his deputies thwarted a third assassination attempt on the Republican presidential nominee.

Meanwhile, Miller expressed his astonishment to the Southern California News Group on Sunday regarding the accusations.

“These accusations are complete bulls**t,” Miller told the news outlet. “I’m an artist, I’m the last person that would cause any violence and harm to anybody."

Miller, alleged by sources to be part of a far-right anti-government group according to The New York Post, stated that he was invited to the rally by the leader of the Clark County GOP Party. He was wearing a Trump shirt and hat when he encountered authorities at the checkpoint.

He reported that before being pulled over and ordered out of his vehicle, he had informed the deputies that he was transporting firearms in his trunk as a courtesy. He alleged that his car was subsequently "ransacked" when a deputy expressed the intention to verify the legality of the gun purchases.

The resident of Las Vegas reported to the media that he was not given a reason for his arrest and was only permitted to contact an attorney after several hours in detention. He recounted the incident in the presence of FBI and Secret Service agents, who, it is claimed, sought to interview him.

What did Mindy Robinson say about Vem Miller's arrest?

Miller's friend Mindy Robinson, the host of 'Conspiracy Truths', has vehemently dismissed the allegations against him, labeling them as "retribution," WION reports

"Vem had just exposed a huge Deep State cover-up involving the Feds and the Bundy Ranch scandal. So I firmly believe this is 100% some kind of set-up in retribution for exposing it," she expressed in an Instagram post.

As per Daily Mail's report, Robinson criticized the Riverside County police for detaining Miller at a checkpoint on Saturday. Miller reportedly showed them counterfeit press and VIP passes for the Coachella Trump rally. Upon searching his vehicle, they discovered illegal firearms.

"It sounds like it was an excuse to get in the car, look at his sh** mess of a car, and that's when they found a gun. But every gun is illegal in California, it's stupid," she remarked on the stricter gun laws in California as opposed to those in some other states.

She added, "I couldn't go because I was having some minor surgery. Thank God, because we probably would have carpooled and it'd be a hot mess. Someone definitely jumped the gun."

"And the way they released it wasn't the right way to do that either. It doesn't make sense. Look at his social media. It goes back years, of the same politics not changing," she said.

Local law enforcement has suggested that the incident may represent a third assassination attempt, following an incident where Trump was shot in the ear in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, and another in September where an armed individual planned to assassinate him at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

A source close to the Trump campaign minimized the threat, informing Daily Mail that the gunman was detained before he could pose any danger.
