Alison Carey sued Mariah Carey for $1.25 million over memoir claims

In 2021, Alison Carey filed a $1.25 million lawsuit against Mariah Carey following the publication of the memoir, contesting the "outrageous claims" made in the chapter titled "Dandelion Tea." Alison accused Mariah of using her public profile to attack her "penniless sister" and generating sensational headlines to increase book sales.

Alison's lawsuit claimed that Mariah's "cruel and outrageous allegations" caused significant emotional distress, exacerbating her childhood trauma and leading to a relapse into alcohol abuse.

Alison revealed that she has been living with HIV since 1990 and suffered a brain injury from a violent home invasion in 2015, which has impacted her vision and short-term memory.

Additionally, she has been arrested multiple times for prostitution, a practice she intermittently engaged in since the early 1980s to support her drug addiction.
