NORTH CHARLESTON, SC: Donald Trump Jr on Friday, February 23, offered his opinion on who he thought his father should pick for vice president. He told The Post that while he would like to see someone like media personality Tucker Carlson, the choice still has a "long way to go."

Trump Jr informed reporters at the former president’s HQ in South Carolina, "There would be a couple [of candidates] that I would love to see. If only just for the vice presidential debate. Like I’d love to see a Tucker Carlson go up against Kamala Harris. Just that would be fun".

Sen Tim Scott (R-SC), whose candidacy as vice presidential candidate has been heavily conjectured, was mentioned by Trump Jr as a close buddy. Tim is a wonderful man.

Donald Trump praises all possible candidates

The front-runner in the GOP, Donald Trump, has not stated when he would make his selection and has been vague about who he is contemplating as his No. 2.

During a Fox News town hall on Tuesday, President Trump lauded every potential candidate that was presented to him, including Scott, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), biotech tycoon Vivek Ramaswamy, and Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL).

Additionally, the former president said he would consider Tucker his vice president.

In November 2023, Trump stated on 'The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show', "I like Tucker a lot. I guess I would. I think I’d say I would because he’s got great common sense."

Although Tucker is a "total sucker for Trump," he hasn't "led a life that prepares a person for politics," as he previously told Megyn Kelly, dispelling the rumors.

Tucker told Kelly on her podcast, "I don’t think I have any, like, horrible skeletons or anything. It’s not that. It’s just that that’s not how my brain works. I’ve never done anything like that. I can’t imagine spending time with politicians."

Trump Jr stated that his father "probably mentioned a couple that is potentials" and that his father had previously "shared some of those as non-potentials."

While he claimed not to have "had a conversation with him in recent times," he did mention having "some ideas" discussed "generally around the holidays."

Before his father officially declared as much, Trump Jr had already attacked Nikki Haley, the opponent in 2024, as a potential vice presidential choice.

Internet reacts to Trump Jr's statement

Several internet users reacted to Donald Trump Jr's statement where he mentioned that the VP decision is a 'long way to go’ but would like to see Tucker Carlson on the ticket.

A user posted on X, "That would never work" whereas one mentioned, "Tucker or Vivek. I’d prefer RFK Jr but I doubt that is possible". Another person said, "Tim Scott is the way."

A user also wrote, "Pretty irrelevant who he picks. He'll lose to Michelle in a landslide."

While one added, "Tulsi should be the choice to get the most independent votes."

A user said, "I am wondering what running mate Trump will choose 2 hang this time."
