JUPITER, FLORIDA: Donald Trump Jr spun a conspiracy theory to counter claims of a "serious national security threat" after a top House Republican put forth an appeal to address it on Wednesday, February 14, according to a report by Huffpost.

The former president's son turned to social media after House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner (R-Ohio) urged President Joe Biden to declassify information on the threat, which according to ABC News is related to Russia deploying a nuclear weapon in space.

What did Mike Turner say about the grave national security threat?

"I am requesting that President Biden declassify all information relating to this threat so that Congress, the Administration, and our allies can openly discuss the actions necessary to respond to this threat," Turner stated.

According to two officials familiar with Capitol Hill deliberations, the intelligence stems from Russia's desire to launch a nuclear weapon into space.

This would not be to deliver a nuclear weapon on Earth, but rather to potentially target satellites.

Nonetheless, "it is very concerning and very sensitive," said one source, describing it as "a big deal."

However, when many members of Congress promptly described the matter as serious without raising public alarm, Donald Trump Jr considered it a "deep state" conspiracy theory centered on Ukraine war funding.

What did Donald Trump Jr say about the tentative matter on social media?

Donald Trump Jr wrote of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who said he isn’t planning on putting the aid package that includes Ukraine on the House floor, “Does anyone really believe that there is a serious Russian threat that magically leaks about 30 seconds after the Speaker said they’re not going to take up funding another $60 billion in Ukraine? Is anyone stupid enough to buy this at this point? Textbook deep state propaganda!”

Rep Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) responded to Trump Jr's post, writing, "Funny thing, ain't it?"

Both Donald Trump Jr and Rep Boebert have entertained wild conspiracy theories in the past in order to stoke fear within their voter base or followers online to rally them for a cause that isn't based on the actual facts or the unbiased truth.

Internet slams Donald Trump Jr and Lauren Boebert for their remarks

Critics on X lambasted both Trump Jr and Boebert for promoting "deep state" conspiracy theories to their followers on social media.

One X user remarked, "Boebert & Trump & Trump Jr. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ridiculous!!!!!!!"

Another user said, "And it was leaked by a Republican How does that fit into their conspiracy theory?"

Another user wrote, "It's hard to not feel sorry for both of them! Neither one could find Ukraine on a map without help! At least Jr. is cognizant enough (maybe) to not run for office."

"What are they on about?" one user asked.

"They’re not wrong about getting played," another X user quipped.

A user tweeted, "Um, do they realize that it's the Republican Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee who leaked it?"
