Internet backs Donald Trump Jr for opposing Nikki Haley as potential 2024 VP running mate for dad
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Donald Trump Jr has emphatically dismissed the idea of Nikki Haley as his father's running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
The former President's son, in an interview with Newsmax host Eric Bolling on Monday, December 25, declared that he "wouldn't have" Nikki Haley as a vice-presidential candidate and vowed to go to great lengths to prevent a Trump-Haley 2024 ticket from materializing.
Don Jr's firm opposition
"I wouldn’t have her, and I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn’t happen," said Don Jr, expressing strong opposition to the former South Carolina governor joining forces with his father in the upcoming election.
Don Jr didn't mince words in his critique of Haley, accusing her of being a puppet of the Washington, DC establishment and claiming she is the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class.
“Nikki Haley wants never-ending wars,” he continued. “She’s a puppet of the establishment in Washington, DC. She’s the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class because they want control – no different than academia and Harvard and using their billions to exercise influence. They want someone they control. Ron DeSantis has proven that he doesn't have what it takes to be on that stage. He's embarrassed himself that way. She's now the preferred candidate."
According to Trump Jr, Haley would try to sabotage Trump’s campaign "from within" if chosen as his running mate.
"No, I would not want Nikki Haley to be there," he added. "By the way, all you’d get is her and team trying to destroy Donald Trump from within, forever. The second she ever got that, you know, anointment, it would be a disaster of epic proportions. So, I would hope that never is on the table, and I don’t think it is."
These remarks from Donald Trump Jr followed comments from Nikki Haley herself, who recently stated that she doesn't believe Donald Trump is the right person to be president.
"Our world is on fire," she said during a recent post-debate interview. "And you can't defeat Democrat chaos with Republican chaos, and Donald Trump brings us chaos. So it's not about being fit, it's just I don't think he's the right person to be president."
Social media reacts
The social media sphere echoed Don Jr's sentiments, with many expressing agreement and support for his stance against a potential Trump-Haley ticket.
"Don Jr is more a Vivek guy. Didn't you know that?" one posted on X (formerly Twitter).
"I'm with Don Jr. Don't do it," another wrote.
"I’m with Don too!!" someone else added.
"It's an insult to Donald J. Trump to even mention it. He knows better. Who starts these rumors?" a comment read.
"Not happening. She’s been a turncoat backstabber. 45 values nothing more than loyalty. She has none," another alleged.

However, despite Don Jr's strong opposition, Nikki Haley's popularity in the 2024 GOP primary polls continues to rise.
Speculation about her potentially being named as Donald Trump's running mate gained traction, with even Lara Trump, Don Jr's sister-in-law, suggesting the possibility after the South Carolina GOP primary in February.
“Probably Donald Trump is going to win in South Carolina and Nikki Haley’s going to come in second,” Lara Trump said in an interview earlier this month. When asked about a potential Trump-Haley ticket, she offered, “Crazier things have happened. I don’t know. I would never say never with Donald J Trump. Never say never.”
Don Jr's critique extends to DeSantis
While Don Jr voiced his concerns about Haley, he also aimed at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, stating that DeSantis "doesn’t have what it takes" to stay in the GOP primary race for 2024.
“Ron DeSantis has proven that he doesn’t have what it takes to be on that stage. He’s embarrassed himself that way,” the former first son said. “[Haley] is now the preferred candidate,” he added.
GOP House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene also dismissed rumors of a Trump-Haley ticket, labeling Haley as representing the "neocon establishment" that the Republican Party is done with.
“MAGA would revolt if Nikki Haley were to even be given an internship in Trump’s next administration,” Greene posted on X earlier this month, adding, “She represents the neocon establishment ‘America last’ wing of the Republican Party that we are absolutely done with."
