LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Donald Trump Jr voiced concern during an event in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday that the United States is not among lawmakers' "top three" priorities.

His comments came in response to Rep Ilhan Omar's (D-Minn) statement that her top priority as a legislator is Somali.

In front of a crowded gathering of RNC members and grassroots activists, Don Jr asserted that the Republican message "actually makes sense" when compared to that of the Democrats and progressives.

Rep Omar, a member of the progressive squad of politicians in the House and an immigrant from Somalia, reportedly stated during an event in Minneapolis that her home country is her top priority when legislating in Congress, as per the DailyMail.

She also mentioned that Islam is her second priority, according to a translation of her remarks.

What did Donald Trump Jr say during the event on Monday?

“You know, Ilhan Omar says stuff like, 'Oh, well, I'm Somali first, Muslim next. We're going to make sure that Somali is heard.' Like, you now, you are in the United States Congress,” Trump Jr lamented at a Republican organizational-level event in Sin City on Monday evening.

“Like we don't even get a mention anymore in America,” he continued, before adding, “Like, we're not even top three or we just get forgot about entirely.”

“And yet, that feels like it's coming from so much of Congress. By the way, including from our own side,” he stated.

Omar is facing accusations of “treason” and calls to be ousted from Congress after delivering a speech in which she unabashedly declared her support for “Somalia first.”

She is a member of a group of progressive legislators commonly referred to as the "Squad."

The group includes Democratic representatives such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib, a Palestinian-American.

The Minnesota Democrat claimed in her speech that “the US government will only do what Somalians in the US tell them to do. They will do what we want and nothing else.”

She continued, “They must follow our orders and that is how we will safeguard the interest of Somalia. We Somalians must have the confidence in ourselves that we call the shots in the US.”

“Together we will protect the interests of Somalia,” she further added.

The representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district also remarked, “Sleep in comfort knowing I am here to protect the interest of Somalia from inside the US system.”

The leaked video of Omar's address on January 27 soon went viral and drew considerable scrutiny, notably from Somali Ambassador Rhoda Elmi, who reposted the video on X and called it “regrettably unbecoming” and “lacking in common decency.”

“We hope the house leadership and her caucus will take note of her public conduct, unbecoming a United States Congresswoman nor representative of the august house she serves in,” Elmi noted in her lengthy tweet on Sunday, January 28.

Donald Trump Jr reposted a portion of Omar's speech on X and captioned it, "Listen to it all. It’s not hyperbole when we say our representatives are putting America last."

RepO mar dismissed the accusations as “completely off,” noting that her foremost obligation as a member of Congress in the United States is to advance the best interests of Somali people in America.

Internet tears into 'Squad' member Ilhan Omar for remarks

People on X lambasted the Minnesota Democrat and sided with Don Jr on his case against the congresswoman for explicitly pledging allegiance to her home country.

One X user remarked, "She must be expelled. She is a disgrace."

Another user said, "She fails to represent her country and her state. She's working harder to help Somalia than she is the USA. The people of Minnesota can't keep bringing her back."

Another user wrote, "She should be removed from office immediately."

One user stated, "She's a traitor. At the very least, she should be deported back to Somalia."

Another X user remarked, "Somali first, Muslim second and US last."

One user tweeted, "The language was beyond “unbecoming” it is treasonous and congress needs to do more than “take note” she needs to be expelled immediately."
