Joe Biden mocked for claiming his 'memory is fine' amid ongoing slip-ups at White House press conference
WASHINGTON, DC: During a public address on Thursday evening, President Joe Biden expressed his frustration regarding public doubts concerning his capabilities.
Despite his assurances that he is fully capable of executing his presidential duties, the 81-year-old incumbent made an unfortunate error by misidentifying the leader of Egypt as the President of Mexico, per a report by DailyMail.
The President’s address to the nation occurred shortly after the release of a 388-page report by the Justice Department, which investigated the sitting commander-in-chief's handling of classified documents and confirmed that he would not be charged for keeping classified documents in his garage.
The report by Special Counsel Robert Hur cites President Biden's “diminished faculties” and “poor memory” as contributing factors to his actions, however, it concludes that he is a “well-meaning, elderly man” who did not intend to cause any ruckus surrounding this matter.
What did President Biden say in Thursday night address to Americans?
In an urgently scheduled press conference, a furious Biden argued, “I know what the hell I'm doing! My memory has not gotten worse. My memory is fine. Take a look at what I have done since becoming president.”
“No one thought I could pass any of the things I got passed,” he continued. “How did that happen? I guess I just forgot what was going on...”
Biden: I've seen the headlines since the report was released about my willful retention of documents. This is not only misleading, it's just plain wrong. The special counsel found the opposite. pic.twitter.com/UuaNqGMyje

Biden was questioned about Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report that suggested that he had not been charged with a certain offense because a jury may have been sympathetic to an "elderly man with a poor memory."
In response to this assertion, the President remarked, “I'm well-meaning and I'm an elderly man, and I know what the hell I'm doing. I'm the President and I put this country back on its feet. I don't need his recommendation it's totally out of (order).”
Reporter: The American people have been watching and they have expressed concerns about your age.

A reporter then pressed him on the state of his memory and his ability to continue as President, by asking, “How bad is your memory, and can you continue as President?”
Biden replied with disdain, “My memory is so bad I let you speak.”
Biden: There is even reference that I don't remember when my son died. How in the hell dare he raise that? When I was asked the question I thought to myself, it wasn’t any of their damn business. Let me tell you something…. pic.twitter.com/VDImISHWOA

The President became quite agitated when Hur mentioned that he couldn't recall when his son Beau passed away.
Hur's report stated, “He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.”
Infuriated, Biden broached the subject himself, saying, “There's even reference that I don't remember when my son died. How in the hell dare he raise that? I don't need anyone, I don't need anyone, to remind me of when he passed away.”

“Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, wasn't any of their damned business,” the President added.
Additionally, he referred to accusations concerning his "willful" retention of records as "misleading."
"I did not share classified information! I didn't!" he cried out at one point.
When did Biden commit the purported slip-up during Thursday's press conference?
President Biden was asked about the humanitarian situation in Gaza during the press conference on Thursday night.
However, he appeared to have misspoken when identifying another foreign Head-of-State, referring to Egypt's Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the President of Mexico.

Biden said, “I think as you know initially, the president of Mexico, El-Sisi, did not want to open up the gate to humanitarian material to get in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate.”
The recent misidentification of El-Sisi could have gone unnoticed in a different context.
However, on two separate occasions this week, President Biden has confused the identities of world leaders, alluding to their deceased predecessors instead.

It is not uncommon for politicians to falter while speaking publicly, and this has been pointed out by the White House on Thursday.
Furthermore, the President has placed blame on his staff for the discovery of sensitive documents from his vice-presidential days in his home, garage, and office.
He has also held subordinates accountable for certain decisions that led to his present predicament and triggered a year-long investigation that is currently adding fuel to former President Donald Trump's re-election campaign.

“I take responsibility for not having seen exactly what my staff was doing,” President Biden noted.
Special Counsel Hur’s report did not recommend pressing charges against the incumbent President of the United States.
However, it contained a series of problematic findings relating to sensitive documents discovered in Biden's garage and questioned his ability to carry out executive duties, effectively.

According to the report, in interviews with investigators, Biden struggled to recall specific dates from his time as Vice President under President Barack Obama and was unable to accurately recall the year in which their son Beau passed away.
Furthermore, the DOJ report flagged the 81-year-old's approach to handling classified information, including their habit of sharing sensitive information with a ghostwriter, posed a clear threat to national security.
However, Biden's aides focused on highlighting the favorable sections of the report, including a statement that his mistakes and the allegations brought against him do not compare to those of former President Trump.
Internet slammed President Biden for his continued slip-ups
People on Facebook were at their wit’s end, as they expressed concern surrounding the damning 388-page DOJ report and Joe Biden’s continued misidentification of foreign leaders within a week.
One user remarked: "I just seen his interview conference with the reporters and I'm sorry Joe love you great man but there just has to be a age limit then if you cross that limit you can't become president either that it's gonna be like cocoon the movie geriatrics all over place no offence haha."
Another person quipped: "How is that meeting with the French President the other day that passed away 30 years ago."
Another user commented: "He can't remember being VP...he says My Memory is fine."
One individual jokingly said: "Ty Mr President for making the president of Mexico to open the border of Gaza."
Another person wrote: "The choice is between "too old" or "too crazy."
Finally, this user commented: "Even a broken clock is correct twice a day…. If only Biden would be so lucky."
