LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Special counsel Robert Hur announced the findings of his probe into President Joe Biden's handling of classified documents stating he would not recommend charges even though evidence suggests that he "willfully retained" materials.

"We conclude that no criminal charges are warranted in this matter. We would conclude the same even if there was no policy against charging a sitting president," read Hur's yearlong probe as reported by Daily Mail.

Inside probe into Joe Biden's mishandling of classified documents

Hur's report revealed that their investigation disclosed evidence that Biden "willfully retained and disclosed classified information after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen."

"These materials included (1) marked classified documents about military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, and (2) notebooks containing Mr. Biden’s handwritten entries about issues of national security and foreign policy implicating sensitive intelligence sources and methods."

"However, for the reasons summarized below, we conclude that the evidence does not establish Mr. Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."

Stating reasons behind declining prosecution of Biden, the report said, "Prosecution of Mr. Biden is also unwarranted based on our consideration of the aggravating and mitigating factors set forth in the Department of Justice’s Principles of Federal Prosecution."

"We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," read Hur's report.

"It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him - by then a former president well into his eighties - of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness."

Joe Biden previously identified the handwriting in the classified notes as his

Classified information found at his residence in Delaware included details on military and foreign policy concerning Afghanistan, as well as notebooks containing handwritten entries on national security and foreign policy matters, according to FBI agents.

Despite Biden acknowledging the handwriting as his own, he told investigators that he "recalled nothing about how the folder or its contents got into his garage."

Internet jokes Joe Biden 'just forgot about' mishandling of classified documents

Following Hur's announcement of Biden's mishandling of classified documents and the president not facing charges, netizens questioned the outcome of the investigation.

"I bet he just forgot about it!" a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) while another user opined, "Seems extremely damaging to Biden and will raise questions as to why Trump is facing prosecution for also "willfully retaining" classified information."

"'Equal justice under the law!' Toss that one into the trash bin like most everything else in today's political climate!" one user tweeted and another user wrote, "Because there are 2 sets of laws in America."
