WASHINGTON, DC: Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House of Representatives, spoke about standing with Israel in the aftermath of the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, as they had stood by the United States following 9/11, during his speech at the Israeli Embassy on Thursday, May 23.

Johnson's remarks were a part of the keynote address which he delivered to mark 76 years of the independence of Israel.

"Our ties are too strong to be broken, too historic to be forgotten, and too precious to be disregarded. Our common cause of freedom and security and prosperity is the three-strand cord which no terrorist can snap," he stated at the event.

Speaker Mike Johnson's tweet

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Johnson shared a clip from his aforementioned speech on Friday, writing in the caption, "After 9/11, Israel stood with us, offering support and assistance. On October 7th, they suffered their own barbaric attack. It is crucial that we stand strong with Israel and speak with clarity and conviction like never before."

He is seen saying in the video, "A couple of days ago, I had the occasion to travel to ground zero to commemorate the tragic loss of lives on September 11, 2001, on our own shores." Mentioning that Israel stood strong in support of the United States against terrorists that day, he claims that "Israel offered hundreds of urban search and rescue personnel to search for American bodies lost in the rubble and the ash. And the Israeli government provided us the intelligence to help track down Osama Bin Laden."

Drawing parallels of 9/11 with the Hamas attack of October 7, Johnson says that Israel is still under the threat of terrorists, who "wage war and launch rockets ... as they seek to destroy the shared principles of our civilization."

The Speaker goes on to slam Iran for supporting the terrorists and the United Nations for providing them a platform. He shames leaders in the United States criticizing Israel, stating, "Some leaders ... who have made statements of solidarity following October 7, have suddenly begun to backpedal on that support."

"This is no time for equivocation. We have to speak with clarity and conviction and consistency unlike never before," he adds.

Internet accuses Israel of being complicit in 9/11

Responding to Johnson's post on X, a user wrote, "Israel was complicit in 9/11. Good talk."

"When has Israel 'stood with us'? When have they committed troops to fight with us? How many US military bases are in Israel?" inquired another.

"Had to check to see if this was a parody account but nope," jibed a third.

"You spelled 'danced' incorrectly," mocked a fourth.

A fifth user slammed Johnson saying, "You are a sellout."
