WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took a stand against an Israeli strike on Rafah.

As reported by The Hill, the attack that happened in the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah fatally hit a humanitarian zone and killed at least 45 people.

Taking to X, the left-wing politician wrote, “The IDF’s attack on a tent camp of innocents in Rafah is an indefensible atrocity. This was done in open defiance of @POTUS ’s red line and the ICJ’s call for a ceasefire.”

“It is long past time for the President to live up to his word and suspend military aid,” she added.

White House National Security Council spokesperson criticizes Rafah attack

A White House National Security Council spokesperson also called out the strike as a political reporter for Axios citing them posted on X, “The devastating images following the IDF strike in Rafah last night that killed dozens of innocent Palestinians are heartbreaking.”

The tweet stated, “Israel has a right to go after Hamas... but as we’ve been clear, Israel must take every precaution possible to protect civilians. We are actively engaging the IDF and partners on the ground to assess what happened.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused of supporting Hamas

Meanwhile, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s comment received backlash on the internet as a user tweeted, “It’s really a curious thing to see democrats openly support Hamas. No wonder why so many members of the Jewish community are turning away from democrats.”

Another user wrote, “AOC’s rule is to vilify before she verifies. She feels no need to wait for an investigation to determine what caused the fire - just like the incident with the al-Ahli Arab Hospital.”

“My God you are dumb af,” one remarked.

A user commented, “AOC never condemned Hamas for their atrocities of 10/7. She continues promoting Hamas and their war to wipe Israel off the map. Antisemites like AOC have no place in the U.S. Government. She’s a stain on humanity and must be legally expelled. AOC doesn’t represent America.”

“It's actually pretty indefensible for Hamas to be setting up shop among ‘innocents’ and trying to draw Israel into fighting them there. Why don't you call for Hamas to surrender and release the hostages so the fighting can end?” another user added.

Supporters stand with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

However, there were a few who supported Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

An individual on Facebook commented, “She’s absolutely right. Netanyahu is a war criminal.”

Another supportive comment read, “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is 100% correct. The IOF's attack on a tent camp in Rafah is an act of genocide point blank. #Rafah #RafahUnderAttack‌  🇵🇸.”

“She’s right with this one and I’ll say it,” a user on X shared.

“She’s correct, for once,” a tweet read.
