'We don’t want her': New Yorkers slam Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for doubting Donald Trump's Bronx rally
BRONX, NEW YORK: New Yorkers attending former President Donald Trump's South Bronx rally took issue with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after the "Squad" member called the gathering a "trick" that would draw a lot of "out-of-towners."
However, several attendees, all of whom identified as locals, were highlighted by "Jesse Watters Primetime" as rejecting AOC's agenda and asserting that nothing has changed since her election.
What did the attendees say?
"You need to tell her that she needs to stay out of the Bronx because look at all the people around. Everybody’s here for Trump," one unidentified man said, according to Fox News. Regarding her influence, a woman expressed that the Democratic socialist congresswoman hasn't done anything to benefit the community.
On the other hand, a different woman encouraged Alexandria to go and directly witness the struggles their neighborhood faces. "Let her come to the Bronx, and let her come among us people that struggle. She doesn't even know what struggle is," she said.
Bronx gave a whopping 80% of their votes to President Joe Biden in 2020
In the 2020 presidential election, the Bronx borough of New York City supported President Biden with over 80% of the vote. But some locals have made it apparent they're ready for change after the Democrat-led administration has been in office for four years.
Donald Trump's latest Bronx rally
With his speech labeling the event a "love fest," Trump attracted a larger-than-expected crowd of over 25,000 people to his rally on Thursday night, May 23. When Trump said, "We love you," the attendees, who had been waiting in the rain for the former president's arrival, cheered and applauded.
The attendees supported Trump for various reasons
One unidentified man praised Trump for being "for the people." Another said "everything was under control" until Biden took office. "We had low inflation, we had gas under a buck-eighty," he added.
Concerns about money and "extreme" prices, as well as crime, immigration, and housing, were frequently raised by Bronx residents. Many concurred that Biden has not addressed any of the major problems ailing minority communities and New York City. "He's done nothing but say ‘you ain't Black,’" one woman said. "I guess I’ll say ‘I ain’t Black’ because I’m not voting for him."
"I’m absolutely Black, and I support Trump," a man said.
Some democrats are willing to vote for Trump
Jesse Watters, the host, pointed out that the former president addressed the concerns of those voters for over an hour. "Biden is not getting the job done for the Bronx," Trump said. "The minute crooked Joe Biden shuffles out the door, I will rapidly rebuild the greatest economy in the history of the world."
Even though some attendees were Democrats, they declared that they would support Trump in the next election because they believed that reform was long overdue. New York voter Cherie Corso, who worked on the Trump campaign in 2016, claimed that Trump was "loved" by all and addressed all the important issues in his speech.
"He was on fire," Corso told "Fox & Friends First" Friday, May 24. "The Trump train has left the station. I am telling you, Trump is going to win. Look, he's bombastic. He's loud. There's a lot of things we don't like about him personally, but he's a man that will get the job done."
Internet lashes out at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Netizens were furious with Ocasio-Cortez after she slammed the NYC event. One X user wrote, "Part of the problem is she cares more about herself than she does her district." Another said, "If AOC walked in there, she would get a standing O!" One user expressed his frustration, "…and yet they re-elected her!"
