WASHINGTON, DC: House Republicans voted to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden on Wednesday, December 13 which previously hadn't garnered the support of the full GOP conference, reports CNN.

This formalization took place after the President’s son, Hunter Biden, did not comply with the subpoena for a closed-door deposition, despite being present at Capitol Hill.

One of the people who voted to advance said impeachment inquiry was Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Gaetz took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his remarks on why he voted to advance the impeachment inquiry into President Biden, however, the internet did not agree with the Republican.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Rep. Matt Gaetz wrote, “Today I voted to advance an impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden.”

He added, “The evidence developed against the Biden Crime Family is damning. They took bribes from corrupt foreigners for the financial benefit of themselves and their family. They created a vast web of shell companies to wash the money. They lied about it and pressured federal law enforcement to protect them from their crimes.”

“An impeachment inquiry is warranted, though insufficient to deal with the harm they have caused,” wrote Gaetz on the social media platform.

The official statement of the impeachment inquiry was shared by Speaker Mike Johnson, who wrote on X, “Today, the House took a critical step in our investigation into serious matters involving President Joe Biden by formally opening an impeachment inquiry. As President Biden continues to stonewall lawful Congressional subpoenas, today’s vote of the full House of Representatives authorizing the inquiry puts us in the strongest position to enforce these subpoenas in court.”

In his statement, Johnson had also stated, that he does not take this responsibility “lightly.” The aforementioned was a joint statement made by Johnson, Steve Scalise, Tom Emmer and Elise Stefanik.

Internet reacts to Matt Gaetz’ vote against Joe Biden

After Rep Matt Gaetz explained his vote to advance an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, the internet’s response was prompt.

One user wrote, “What is insufficient it your evidence. As your constituent I am disgusted with this vote, as indeed I am by most things you do,” and another asked, “Why? You can’t possibly remove him? What is your point?”

"Except there is no real evidence to back up any of your allegations.  It’s all just one big diversionary tactic,” wrote one user, and another wrote, “None of which you have proof of though.”

Gaetz continued to face backlash on X as one user wrote, “Trash,” and another said, “Nah, you got nothing”
