LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Halle Bailey cannot comprehend why people are "mad" that she "protected [her own] peace" by concealing her pregnancy; she is tired of being called a liar and a gaslighter for hiding (never confirming) her pregnancy.

The actress and singer of 'Little Mermaid' responded to a fan on X (formerly Twitter), accusing her of "gaslighting" her followers by failing to disclose that she and rapper DDG were expecting their first child, who was born in December 2023.

After sparking pregnancy rumors with her September 2023 appearance at the MTV VMAs, Bailey welcomed her baby son, Halo, with DDG in December 2023.

Halle Bailey says 'I protected my own peace'

According to the X user to whom Bailey was responding to, fans were allegedly "annoyed" that Bailey "went out of her way to lie and gaslight" them about her pregnancy.

The X user wrote: "I don’t think people are mad she hid her pregnancy. People are more so annoyed that she went out of her way to lie and gaslight about it."

"Then, she shaded people and called them desperate. Now, she wants those same 'desperate' people to know every little detail," the user added.

The singer added fuel to the rumors when she showed up at 'The Color Purple' premiere in December wearing a poofy outfit, per Page Six.

The 'Little Mermaid' actress quickly refuted the claim with a detailed justification in a quote tweet, condemning the hater for being enraged because she maintained her peace.

She also talked about why she decided to post updates about her baby on social media to let her fans know how happy she was.

Bailey, 23, wrote on X on Sunday, January 28: "I never lied or even said anything about it honey, making a joke about my nose was the farthest i went . i’ll never understand why you are mad i protected my own peace, wouldn’t you do the same?"

"And i’m gonna share my pics now if i want to because my son is here safely, if u don’t wanna see it just keep scrolling baby lol God bless you!" the actress added.

After Bailey gave her prepared response, another X user attempted to ridicule and make fun of her by telling her, "Don’t speak now & leave us out the conversation."

The user wrote: "Halle, baby. Kill it. You didn’t tell us bout the baby then. You didn’t speak then. Dont speak now & leave us out the conversation. Enjoy your jit in peace. We don’t care."

In response, Bailey commented, "If you don’t care why are u responding then sweetheart just don’t care by living ur best life and not commenting on mine," as if to disparage the offending X user.

An hour later, the new mother said she was "gonna go back to staying off twitter" since her "hormones have been on 10 recently."

Fans back Halle Bailey for her choice to hide pregnancy

Following the 'Little Mermaid' star's scathing response to online critics about hiding her pregnancy, fans took to X to defend the actress for her wise decision.

One such supporter wrote: "They’re way too entitled, you had EVERY right!!! that’s your baby not ours and most of us love seeing your journey regardless of when you posted it! People are so weird."

A second fan added, "Even if you did lie it would be valid though it should not be other people’s business whether you pregnant or not."

"Even if you lied baby you are not entitled to that information," chimed in a third supporter.

Another one backed Halle Bailey and wrote: "Folks feel too entitled to everyone else’s lives. It’s mad weird to me. Folks can hide and share whatever it is they want. It’s not really our business either way lol."

"Are there actually people mad at Halle Bailey for keeping her own pregnancy her own buisness?" quipped one more.

Another one noted: "TL filled with mfs hating on Halle Bailey cuz she hid her pregnancy? Why y'all mad at her? It's not even yours.."

Another one referred to pregnancy as 'sacred' and wrote: "Pregnancy is such a sacred, vulnerable and Godly phase in a woman's life...Child birth is like being between life and death..So being private about it is very valid..Congratulations on the baby."

"You ended in such a classy way, i am so impressed, i love this," praised another one.
